About

Hi there!

My name is Robert Ellis, and I've been teaching guitar for the past 23 years.  I've played in all kinds of bands and have done my share of recordings.  I started taking guitar lessons when I was about 12 years old, and my favorite bands were Metallica and the Beatles.  I studied music and classical guitar, performing in multiple ensembles, at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem NC, where I earned my BA.  From there I continued my studies online through Berklee College of Music, earning a Master Certification in music production and technology.

From there, I went on to record quite a few tunes for various video games, continuing to teach lessons here and there.  When I made my way up to WA, I started teaching guitar and electric bass lessons through 4/4 School of Music, and now I’m teaching on my own from my home and online via zoom.

Of all the things I’ve done with music, teaching guitar is my favorite.  I love teaching the fundamentals, the music theory, the songs, and all those techniques that make you say, “how did they do that?”  In addition, I'm thrilled to be able to offer online lessons.  Since the pandemic, most of the lessons I've taught have been online via Zoom, and many students really preferred this option, since it didn't require any driving, and they could learn in the comfort of their own homes.

Getting to meet so many wonderful people and encourage their musical interests while giving them the tools to express themselves musically, and play anything they want is so incredibly rewarding, and it’s just plain fun!

I hope you’ll join me so that I can be a part of your musical journey, and I look forward to teaching you how to play all the songs you love!

Thanks for reading!

-Robert Ellis

Testimonials:

"Robbie is always so kind and so professional. My daughter sometimes struggles with anxiety and his teaching style has brought her out of her shell. She truly feels safe and heard during all of her lessons. This has made learning guitar something she loves rather than yet another thing she feels anxious about. It has made a real difference for her." -Noëlle

"Robbie always seems so excited to teach me new stuff, and he lets me play whatever i feel like playing; I’m not forced to play something i don’t want to. He’s just very positive and makes lessons really enjoyable." -Bella
